A day at Amsterdam (Day One)

Its my first time to Amsterdam, Netherlands
Supposed to be Summer now but the weather is so chilling, it feels like winter!!

I managed to capture the sunrise from the aircraft ..
Flight time was 12 hours plus but because Amsterdam is 6 hours behind Singapore time..
Feels like we cheat on time.. Reached Amsterdam in the wee morning hours although we departed on midnight.

Stayed in Marriott hotel at Stadhouderskade
Nice and cosy room for the two nights..
Can you see little vamvam?

After a good rest until afternoon.. went out to eat with some senior crew.

Almost all the restaurants there are selling spareribs..
they have deals like unlimited ribs for certain prices.

We all get the normal set meal with a drink for 10.50 euros which is about 20 sgd
But the food is O.K. only.. nothing fanciful. The portion is quite good though.. there is two racks of ribs in case this photo isn't obvious.
.
SELFIE!
The sunlight is really good for some selfie shot

Next we went to this MUST-GO place..
I amsterdam sign!!
See the crowd!!

I managed to squeeze in to take a photo with the I sign
hahaha

We saw this stall selling waffles by the street
We couldn't resist!!!
So dessert is waffles coated with Nutella spread with soft served ice cream~~~~~
oh so yummy~!!!!!
.
After dessert, we saw this crowd clearing from the I amsterdam sign so we headed back to take photo!!
my most successful panorama shot!!!
Fail selfie, I can't capture the whole sign in my selfie!
.
So must ask people to take for me!
and MUST do a jump shot!
.
Then we went to walk around the town area..
Passing through a lot of canals..

Even found myself in a big wooden clog..
& saw a really yummy window of a shop.
So many nice buildings!!!!!
I also met little vamvam's potential bffs
Saw some pretty flowers but sadly the season for tulips is over :(
.
their supermarket named after a person.

That day in Amsterdam.. it was world cup match for Holland vs Mexico.
The whole street is filled with people wearing orange tops to show their support for their own country team, Holland!
and also shops selling all the orangey merchandises

Before the match start, the respective team will sing their national anthem.. the supporter who were watching the match in the bar all stood up to sing their anthem. Very patriotic :')
Actually I video-ed it down but don't know why I can't upload it.

After that, we went to the RED LIGHT DISTRICT..
But because of the match, the place is very deserted!
Not much of the ladies are working as well :x
Cant take photos of the ladies but its like this!!!!!
They wear until very sexy.. then they will stand in front of the door/window and wait for customer openly.
Like this postcard if you can see!

Then if you see this photo.. you can't tell that it's the red light district right!!!
Looked so demure.

They have museums about prostitution and sex but we didn't go in as some of them went before.
Quite curious what will be inside!!!
.
Beautiful buildings are everywhere~

Then we walked past the flower market on our way back to hotel.
All the shops there sell the same items.. mostly flower seeds including tulip's! But Singapore weather is not suitable to grow tulips. Unless you have a glass/green house like garden by the bay!
One of the shops along the flower market.
Pretty & colourful but not real tulips.

Colourful clog shoes.

They are famous for selling drugs/weed in Amsterdam.
You can smell weed in certain shops that sell weed related products like space cake!
But I didn't try as it work trip.. there might be urine test and there isn't enough time for my body to get rid of weed from my system.
.
Day one ended with me dozing off and slept for hourssss!!!

To be continued for DAY TWO
(theres windmill!)
